Sustainable Building Design
Saving the world begins with making a sustainable choice.
In the 21st century, we are living on the brink of a global crossroads. On the one hand, overpopulation, depletion of resources and climate change are threatening the very survival of the human race. On the other hand, however, the fight for a sustainable future is gaining more momentum than ever, with the UN adopting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals signed by 193 countries.
But what would a sustainable future look like? To answer this question, we at Consistent Engineering seek to take inspiration from our sustainable past.
The civilizations of the Ancient World lived in harmony with nature. The mantra of ‘Reduce-Reuse-Recycle’ was the fundamental principle of this harmonious existence. If we are to create a sustainable world, we need to implement these principles and effect a return to balance between Humankind and Nature.
In the last few years, the world has released 32-36 billion tons of CO2 per year. As per the World Green Building Council, 39% of these emissions come from the construction sector!
This highlights the crucial role that sustainable building can play in reducing a major part of carbon emissions and blazing the trail towards a better future.
For Team Consistent, sustainable building is a holistic concept that considers the entire life-cycle of the building. This approach allows us to reduce construction and operational costs, increase energy efficiency, decrease the overall carbon emissions, and provide renewable energy solutions to create sustainable and even net-zero energy buildings.
As corporate members of both the US and the Emirates Green Building Councils, our designs adhere to the highest of international sustainability standards. Our team includes Certified LEED APs, WELL APs, and Nearly-Zero Energy Building experts.
For instance, recently our green building experts devised a Case Study for a Nearly-Zero Energy Villa complex. Going beyond the DM Green Building norms, the Villa was designed with a payback period of only a single year. Changing the orientation of the structure, designing solar PV systems, as well as energy and water efficiency, were some of the solutions implemented. Read through the full Project Case Study here!
