Residential And township
Designing homes that maximize comfort while optimizing energy – Hello suite sustainability!
In an era of creature comforts, homeowners are waking up to more than Alexa’s automatic alarms, they’re waking up to the need for sustainable and eco-friendly homes that have energy-saving applications installed.
The ASHRAE standards for residential and township sectors are slowly becoming more stringent, as is the owners’ drive to adopt the latest and most energy-efficient technology to maintain indoor air quality at the optimum level while keeping maintenance costs under the hood. Furthermore, as MEP contributes to most of the residences’ energy emissions, MEP optimization is now front, core, and center.
Our engineering team is adept at designing bespoke solutions, from single homes to super high-rise buildings that offer a better quality of life for occupants and simultaneously create genuine sustainable value that will last generations.
Key Considerations of MEP Design for Residential and Township Sector
Embracing energy optimization right from the grass-root level, we work hand in hand with the architects and contractors to analyze how we can implement smart living principles with excellent energy performance.
Here’s what we do:
- Optimize building orientation and layout according to climatic zone to harness natural light and ventilation
- Ergonomic design to ensure maximum occupant comfort and reduced energy and water usage
- Solar PV installations wherever possible to minimize energy costs
- Recycling and reuse of wastewater for landscaping and utility purposes
- Intelligent lighting for energy-efficiency
- Automatic water fixtures with motion sensors to reduce wastage
- Use of glazed facades for natural sunlight, and insulators to create an optimum temperature in the building envelope
- Reduce maintenance costs for townships by designing energy-efficient communal facilities such as; swimming pools, central hubs, convention centers, etc.
- Improve the lifecycle performance of common mechanisms with the help of cross-vertical integration
Seeing sustainability in action at Kifaf Residency Project
For the Al Kifaf Residency project, a water-cooled chilled water plant was utilized to design an energy-efficient HVAC system. Furthermore, the cooling tower makeup water provided was grey water from the on-site water treatment plant. This reduced the water consumption significantly. VFDs were also utilized for the secondary chilled water pumps and cooling tower fans.
Runwal My City: Perfect blend of functionality and efficiency
Runwal My City, a massive Township Project of 42 residential towers (23-27 floors), is being constructed in Mumbai. A number of energy efficient solutions were implemented, such as LED light fixtures to meet the internal ambience of different areas, intelligent lighting controls, and solar hot water heaters. This has helped in reducing the operational cost of electricity considerably.
At the same time, the podium landscape was one of the most important aesthetic features of the project. Hence, well-designed drainage, power, and lighting were provided to maintain its greenery.
